Southern Uranium Limited is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) under stock code SNU. You can view their investor website here. SNU was listed on the ASX on 3 April, 2007 and raised $14 million. The Company focuses on uranium exploration with the objective of growing through the discovery, acquisition and development of resources within the favourable environment of the current robust upturn in uranium demand. Southern Uranium is launching from a portfolio of over 10,000 square kilometres of tenements with uranium potential through sole holdings, strata rights and joint ventures in the Gawler Craton, a pedigree province containing about one third of the world’s known uranium resources. The Company’s initial portfolio was transferred from Southern Gold Limited which retains 39% equity in Southern Uranium. Southern Uranium’s other cornerstone investor is a consortium, comprising CITIC Australia Pty Limited and Talbot Group Holdings Pty Ltd, that holds 17.4% equity in the Company. Our cornerstone investors provide networking, technical, commercial and development synergies plus the potential for financial backing that enables the Company to aim for upper tier resources. Southern Uranium, initially as Southern Gold, reacted quickly to the uranium upturn and the insights gained from new discoveries by largely pegging its portfolio in 2003-2005. The Company was therefore being able to position its ground in preferred geological positions that were subsequently surrounded by competitors’ blanket pegging. Having carefully selected where to look for new deposits, the new exploration tactics are being applied to locate IOCGU targets using gravity surveys and to define the prospective parts of palaeochannels using airborne electromagnetics. Southern Uranium and its joint venture partners now control and is exploring about 300km of prospective palaeochannels and at least 10 high-priority gravity targets with IOCGU potential.Learn more about Uranium Mines in Australia, learn what Uranium is, read about Worldwide Uranium Deposits, study the Regulation of Uranium Mining and wonder at the marvels of Uranium exploration in Australia.
